DevFest Talk

29-10-2018 - 1 min -

Last Saturday I had the honor of giving at talk at the GDG DevFest Capitol Region with Jason Kuruzovich about the project we have been working on for several months: Carme.

OK that was a lot of links all at once. If you want to learn more about Carme itself I suggest you read more about it on it's website. In this post I will be focusing on my experience giving the talk. You can download the presentation here.

We presented to a fairly small crowd of only about 10 people at the end after everyone had slowly trickled in. There really were only about 30 people total for the DevFest. I am not sure if the weather lowered overall attendance or if it is generally a small affair.

While I wish we had more of an audience, I am glad we had who we did. After our presentation, and during, we had some really great dialogue between us and the audience and I learned quite a bit. And at my age just the fact that I was presenting at something other than my school is a big achievement.

In the end I think this was a good experience and something to build off of going forward. I am surprisingly the type of person who kind of likes speaking to crowds, so I can see myself doing this in the future.
Though maybe at a bigger event next time...
